Susan Panttaja, P.G.Senior Project Manager 1 (886) 818-9002
As senior project manager, Susan Panttaja provides insurance claims support, third-party review, and damage evaluation services for multi-party and multi-site projects. Ms. Panttaja develops cost estimates and net-present-value calculations for reserve setting and mediation projects, and conducts forensic data evaluations to assess PRPs in site damages. Ms. Panttaja is a Professional Geologist in California. Ms. Panttaja’s professional accomplishments include working with her client and the Regional Water Quality Control Board to write a new site cleanup order for ongoing remediation of a large electronics-manufacturing site. The new cleanup order included revised cleanup goals that will result in significant short-term cost savings to the client, yet remain protective of human health and the environment. The new cleanup order also paves the way for reduction and eventual closure of the site’s remediation system. Ms. Panttaja also provided consulting and support services on a declaratory relief action against a large electronics manufacturer by evaluating environmental damages at multiple sites and working with legal counsel and client to develop a pro rata damage allocation that was used during buyback negotiations and resulted in a $6 million reduction in the client’s reserve estimate fund. Over the past 15 years, Ms. Panttaja has served as a geologist and project manager in the environmental consulting field. She has provided insurance support for large multi-site manufacturing, tannery, petroleum, landfill, and development projects. She has provided project management, strategic planning, and CERCLA compliance services for multi-million dollar remediation projects for major corporations and has been involved in investigation and remediation of soil and groundwater at manufacturing, military, and commercial sites involving volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds, petroleum compounds, and metals. She has also developed long-term risk management guidelines and data evaluation for the U.S. government regarding unexploded ordnance. Ms. Panttaja holds and M.S. degree in Geoscience from the University of Nevada (1988) and is co-author of Discover Nature in the Rocks: Things to Know and Things to Do, a layperson’s guide to geology. She is a member of the Association for Women Geoscientists and Groundwater Resources Association of California.
