Designated UST Operator
Beginning January 1, 2005, California underground storage tank (UST) owners must designate an individual to act as a Designated UST Operator for each UST facility according to the California State Water Resources Control Board (see SWRCB flyer).
The Designated UST Operator (i.e., owner, employee, or third-party expert) must hold a California UST System Operator certification issued by the International Code Council and has two primary responsibilities that cannot be delegated to another person:
- Conduct monthly visual inspections of the UST facility
- Provide basic on-the-job training for facility employees every twelve months starting July 1, 2005
Dominion Environmental’s Designated UST Operators have the environmental expertise to turn baseline compliance into preventative, cost-effective monitoring that protects the bottom-line from avoidable cleanup costs. To contact our Designated UST Operator department, enter your request at Contact.
Inadequate or uninformed monitoring can be costly and result in avoidable toxic releases, regulatory intervention, soil and groundwater cleanup costs ranging on average from $200,000 to $300,000 per incident, and loss of business income during site cleanup.
Dominion’s staff is made up of seasoned professionals with 15 to 23 years of experience in UST regulations, remedial investigation, remedial design and implementation, and project management. Dominion emphasizes effective communication to ensure we accurately understand and address the fundamental issues specific to your site.
